I am pleased to announce that I am the 2013 recipient of the New Jersey Water Color Society Silver Medal of Honor

The NJWCS Silver Medal of Honor

Fri, Nov 8th, 2013

Since 1955, the New Jersey Water Color Society bestows the Silver Medal of Honor, its highest distinction, upon an elected member who demonstrates excellence with an entry to its Annual Open Juried Exhibition and recognizes the individual's superior service to the organization. Past recipients include artists Kent Day Coes, Arthur Barbour, Nat Lewis, and Roberta Carter Clark.

I am pleased to announce that I am the 2013 recipient. I am humbled that my painting, "Clouds Over Otter Cliffs," has been conferred this honor. I was also awarded the Silver Medal of Honor in 2004 for my painting, "Little Hunter's Beach." This continues to affirm that I remain active in a vibrant, distinguished, and growing watercolor arts community.

The New Jersey Water Color Society's 71st Annual Open Juried Exhibition was hosted by the Middletown Arts Center. The exhibition opened on September 30th and concluded on October 27th. Seventy watercolors were selected for inclusion in this year's show, which features works by some of New Jersey's best watercolorists.

The Society is dedicated to further the appreciation and knowledge of watercolor for New Jersey artists. Anyone interested in participating in the activities of the NJWCS may become an Associate Member. They may exhibit in the Annual Associate Member's Exhibition and enter the Annual Juried Exhibition. Associate Members can serve on committees and are invited to attend all openings, receptions and events of the society. They receive a bi-annual newsletter, a copy of the Open Juried Exhibition catalog and may cite Associate Member status on a resume.

The path to becoming an Elected Member in the NJWCS begins with acceptance into two Annual Open Juried Exhibitions. Prospective candidates (who must be a resident of New Jersey) are then invited to submit five original watercolors for a review and are voted upon by the NJWCS Executive Board. If elected, members receive all benefits of membership including voting privileges, exhibiting in Elected Members' shows and citing Elected Member status on a resume.
